A2 motorway closed near Kamener Kreuz for roadwork
The A2 motorway is undergoing a full closure between the Kamener Kreuz and the Hamm exit in the direction of Hannover. The closure began at 9:00 PM on Friday and is scheduled to remain in effect until 5:00 AM on Monday, August 24.
This construction project involves renewing approximately twelve kilometers of roadway using “Flüsterasphalt” (whisper asphalt), an open-pored asphalt designed to reduce traffic noise. Because this specific material must be laid in a single continuous operation, a total closure of the section is required. This follows a similar closure in the opposite direction that occurred in early July.
Long-distance traffic is being diverted via the A33 toward the A44 or through the Lotte Osnabrück junction onto the A1. Local traffic in the areas of Kamen and Bönen is expected to experience increased volume due to the detour routes.
