A2 motorway viaduct in Ytres nears completion
Construction is progressing on the A2 motorway viaduct in Ytres, which is designed to cross the future Canal Seine-Nord Europe. Managed by SANEF, the project is expected to be operational in approximately one year.
The 122-meter-long structure will reach a height of about 40 meters above the canal. It features a single-span mixed design using both steel and concrete without intermediate pillars, a configuration that is expected to make it the largest of its kind in France upon completion.
Work is currently advancing on multiple fronts. The two abutments are finished, and the assembly of the northern deck's metal framework is complete. Crews are now working on backfilling behind the abutments and assembling the southern deck structure. Upcoming stages include the preparation of the concrete slabs for both decks.
