A24 acquires Jordan Firstman’s ‘Club Kid’ after Cannes bidding war

A24 has acquired the rights to ‘Club Kid’, the directorial debut of Jordan Firstman, following a competitive eight-figure bidding war involving studios such as Netflix, Mubi, and Searchlight. The film, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, reportedly cost A24 approximately $17 million.

The comedy-drama is set within New York’s queer nightlife scene and follows Peter, a party promoter played by Firstman, who must navigate life after discovering he has a 10-year-old son. The film features a supporting cast including Diego Calva and Cara Delevingne.

Club Kid’ is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 6, following appearances at several fall festivals including Telluride, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival.
