A24 announces ‘Death of a Unicorn’ starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega

A24 has announced the release of the survival thriller ‘Death of a Unicorn’, scheduled for January 8, 2027. The film is executive produced by Ari Aster and marks the directorial and screenwriting debut of Alex Scharfman.

The plot follows a father and daughter, played by Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, who accidentally hit a unicorn while driving through a mountainous area. The story explores the consequences of this event, involving a wealthy individual, played by Richard E. Grant, who intends to exploit the creature’s miraculous healing abilities.

The production features a cast including Will Poulter and Tiarra Leoni. The concept was inspired by a tapestry located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
