A24 highway near Zarrentin closed after Audi crash

A 40‑year‑old driver of an Audi lost control of his vehicle on the A24 between the Zarrentin interchange and the Wittenburger Land Süd parking area early Wednesday morning. The car veered off the road, struck a tree, overturned and caused severe injuries to the driver, who was air‑lifted to a hospital in Hamburg. The accident also damaged two trucks and scattered debris, contaminating the roadway with fuel.

The Polizeipräsidium Rostock ordered a full closure of the Berlin‑bound carriageway, diverting traffic and deploying the Autobahn‑ und Verkehrspolizeirevier Stolpe, the volunteer fire brigade and a DEKRA expert to manage the incident. After the wreckage was cleared and the site cleaned, the road was reopened at 14:30, ending the full‑sperrung. Police estimated the total damage at around €50,000.
