A24 to produce Backrooms 2 with director Kane Parsons

A24 is set to produce a sequel to the horror film ‘Backrooms’, with Kane Parsons returning to direct. The project follows the significant commercial success of the first film, which reportedly earned $394.1 million worldwide after originating from Parsons’ viral YouTube series.

Parsons, who owns the ‘Backrooms’ intellectual property, reportedly chose to remain with A24 despite interest from other major studios including Warner Bros. and Universal. The partnership aims to expand the lore of the franchise, which was envisioned by Parsons as a broader concept beyond a single feature film. While official confirmation from the studio is expected imminently, reports indicate the deal may also include a separate original project for the filmmaker.
