A2A generates 80 million euros in value for Valtellina and Valchiavenna

A2A has released its eleventh Territorial Sustainability Report for the Valtellina and Valchiavenna regions, detailing significant economic and environmental contributions. In 2025, the company generated approximately 78 to 80 million euros in local economic value. This includes 55 million euros in hydroelectric concession fees, 12 million euros in wages, and over 15 million euros in investments, representing a 31% increase compared to 2024.

The company’s 21 managed hydroelectric plants produced 2,760 GWh of renewable energy, avoiding the emission of roughly 1.2 million tons of CO2. A2A also reported providing over 6 million euros in orders to local suppliers, with 88% of those orders going to micro and small enterprises.

To improve operational efficiency, A2A is testing new technologies such as 'Teti,' an autonomous underwater robot designed to remove sediment from hydroelectric reservoirs. This innovation aims to prevent the need to drain lakes for maintenance, a process that currently results in energy losses of 25 to 30 GWh per occurrence.
