A30 road closure planned following HGV fire near Launceston
A stretch of the A30 near Pennygillam in Launceston is scheduled for a full closure starting at 8pm on October 16 to facilitate emergency repairs and resurfacing. The closure follows a serious heavy goods vehicle (HGV) fire that occurred on the morning of October 15.
Devon and Cornwall Police reported that the HGV fire took place on the southbound carriageway, though no injuries were reported. While the vehicle has been removed and a single lane was temporarily reopened to allow traffic to pass, National Highways confirmed that lane 1 will remain closed due to damage to the road surface. An inspection of the nearby footbridge found no damage, and it has since been reopened.
