A30 roadworks cause traffic disruption in Cornwall

Ongoing safety upgrades on the A30 in Cornwall are causing significant traffic disruption. National Highways is conducting a series of six-month works aimed at improving road safety, which include full closures in both directions between Five Lanes and Kennards House from 9pm to 6am between September 5 and September 11.

Starting September 7, the route will transition to single-lane traffic in each direction during the day, with speed limits set at 40mph and 50mph. These single-lane restrictions are expected to remain in place until March 2027.

The closures have led to heavy congestion on surrounding B-roads, with drivers, including ambulances, attempting to navigate rural routes through areas such as Trevague, Trevell, Trewint, Five Lanes, Altarnun, and Lewannick. Local Councillor Adrian Parsons reported that the diversions have caused gridlock on local lanes, leaving residents to manage the consequences of the traffic chaos.
