A30 roadworks in Cornwall cause significant traffic disruption

Extensive safety upgrades on the A30 in Cornwall have led to significant traffic disruption following the commencement of works in early August. The project, managed by National Highways, involves a series of upgrades scheduled to continue until March 2027.

Recent overnight closures between Five Lanes and Kennards House have forced vehicles, including ambulances, onto local B-roads. This has resulted in heavy traffic volumes passing through small rural villages such as Trewint, causing frustration for local residents and businesses.

Adrian Parsons, a Cornwall councillor, criticized the lack of community consultation and the management of the project, stating that the delays are costing local people and businesses. Ben Maguire, MP for North Cornwall, has requested an urgent review of the signage and chosen diversion routes from the regional director of National Highways.
