A33 Highway: Deputy Grimaldi questions Minister Salvini over toll system failures

Italian deputy Marco Grimaldi of Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra has filed a written inquiry with Infrastructure and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini regarding malfunctions in the Free Flow toll system on the A33 Asti-Cuneo highway.

Since the barrier-free system was implemented on September 1, 2024, users have reported increasing technical issues. These include transits not appearing in records, duplicate or incorrect charges, failed payments, and incorrect license plate recognition. Such errors have reportedly led to heavy administrative sanctions for motorists despite no actual non-compliance.

Grimaldi is seeking clarification on whether the Ministry is aware of these faults and what inspections will be conducted regarding the concessionaire, Autostrada Asti-Cuneo S.p.A., which operates under ministerial supervision.
