Dominican Republic and US lead A3C summit against transnational crime

The Dominican Republic and the United States, through the Ministry of Defense and SOUTHCOM, are hosting the Americas Coalition Against Cartels (A3C) conference in Santo Domingo. The summit brings together defense and security authorities from 19 nations to establish a coordinated regional strategy against drug trafficking, narcoterrorism, and transnational organized crime.

During the sessions held on October 26 and 27, participants are working to formalize an operational strategic plan and a governance charter. These instruments aim to define priorities, coordination mechanisms, and the functional structure of the coalition. Key objectives include enhancing intelligence sharing, developing combined operations, strengthening border surveillance, and protecting critical infrastructure.

Dominican President Luis Abinader emphasized that international criminal organizations require a non-fragmented state response. He called for transitioning from diplomatic commitments to verifiable results and concrete actions. The coalition, which was initially announced in March 2026, seeks to disrupt the logistics, financing, and corruption networks that sustain criminal structures across the hemisphere.
