Poland weather alerts issued for dense fog across multiple regions

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first-degree weather alerts for several regions in Poland due to the threat of dense fog. These conditions are expected to significantly reduce visibility, in some areas to below 200 meters, posing risks to road safety and potentially impacting airport operations.

The alerts cover eight voivodeships, including Podlaskie, Lubelskie, Mazowieckie, Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie, Podkarpackie, Łódzkie, and parts of Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Dolnośląskie. The fog is particularly expected to develop during the night and early morning hours, especially in eastern and southern parts of the country.

Meteorologists note that while some areas may experience sunny intervals during the day, the nighttime and morning hours will remain hazardous. Drivers are advised to use low-beam or fog lights and to adjust their speed to the reduced visibility. The phenomenon is expected to persist through the weekend, with some regions seeing fog dissipate only by midday.
