A565 motorway repairs to cause traffic disruptions near Meckenheim

The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes has announced extensive maintenance work on the A565 motorway between the Meckenheim-Merl and Bonn-Hardtberg junctions. The project involves significant repairs to the road surface and the hard shoulder.

Preparatory work is scheduled to begin on the night of September 24, 2026. During this period, from 21:00 to 05:00, traffic heading toward Cologne will be reduced to a single lane. Starting the morning of September 25, a 2:2 traffic management system will be implemented, providing two lanes in each direction while allowing for the construction of necessary crossings in the median.

To minimize disruption during peak hours, a 3:1 traffic management plan is expected to begin in early October. This will divert all traffic toward Cologne onto the lanes typically used for the direction of Koblenz, creating a safe workspace for construction crews.
