A62 motorway toward Trier closed for repairs after truck accident

The A62 motorway heading toward Trier remains closed due to extensive repairs following a heavy truck accident near the Türkismühle junction. The closure, which was initially expected to end on Wednesday morning, has been extended because the damage to the roadway is more significant than originally anticipated.

The accident occurred on Tuesday evening when a container carrying a 15-ton hydraulic machine detached from a truck while the vehicle was entering the motorway. The resulting imbalance caused the driver to lose control, leading the truck to overturn. While the 45-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries, the heavy cargo tore deep holes into the asphalt.

Repair crews are currently working to fix the damaged surface. A local diversion has been established between the Türkismühle and Otzenhausen junctions. According to the Autobahn GmbH, the road is now expected to reopen by Thursday at 8:00 AM.
