A9 motorway near Bayreuth faces fire damage and closures

The A9 motorway near Bayreuth has experienced significant disruptions due to a major truck fire and upcoming scheduled maintenance.

On Tuesday afternoon, a truck loaded with laminate caught fire near Bindlacher Berg. The blaze spread from the engine compartment to the trailer, resulting in the vehicle being completely destroyed. Damage is estimated at approximately 400,000 euros. The incident caused heavy smoke, leading authorities to advise local residents to close windows and doors. While traffic in the direction of Berlin was partially restored by evening, recovery efforts continued into the night.

Further disruptions are expected on Wednesday, September 9, due to planned marking works between the Bayreuth/Kulmbach interchange and the Bayreuth Nord junction. Between 8:00 and midnight, several on-ramps will be closed, including the entrance from the A70 toward Bayreuth and the entrance at Bindlacher Berg. Drivers are advised to use detours via the Bad Berneck junction.
