AAC requests use of Aso Rock for 2027 campaign inauguration

The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally requested President Bola Tinubu’s approval to host the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The party has proposed November 11, 2026, as the date for the event, which serves as preparation for the 2027 general elections.

In a letter signed by National Secretary Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC requested logistical support, including food and drinks, for approximately 5,000 expected participants from Nigeria and abroad. The party argued that granting this request would uphold the principles of multiparty democracy and political inclusiveness, ensuring that public institutions are not used exclusively by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The request follows reports that the APC held a similar inauguration at Aso Rock using state resources. The AAC maintains that providing equal access to national facilities would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and non-partisan governance.
