Aachen launches digital pilot for faster business registration

The city of Aachen, in collaboration with the Aachen District Court and the Aachen-Stadt Tax Office, has launched a new phase of the nationwide pilot project ‘G24 – Gemeinsam Schneller Gründen’. This initiative aims to reduce bureaucracy and accelerate the process of starting a business for sole traders.

A digital combined application is now available in Aachen, allowing for the simultaneous submission of business registration and tax registration. While the business registration component will be rolled out to nine other pilot locations—including Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich—in the coming weeks, the application for a tax number can already be completed entirely digitally nationwide.

The project is designed as a ‘one-stop-shop’ to simplify the transition into self-employment through increased digitalization.
