Aachen to host 2026 FEI World Equestrian Championships

The FEI World Equestrian Championships are returning to Aachen, Germany, from August 11 to 23, 2026. This marks the return of the event to the city twenty years after the 2006 championships. The competition will feature six disciplines: dressage, eventing, vaulting, show jumping, para dressage, and driving.

Germany's national federation, Pferdesport Deutschland, aims to use the home championship to secure direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The German dressage team, alongside Great Britain, is considered a top contender for gold, with legendary rider Isabell Werth expected to compete for medals. Other notable competitors include Belgian rider Justin Verboomen and Olympic champion Michael Jung.

Significant investments have been made for the event, including a new 4,200-square-meter stable complex in Aachen. The total budget for the 2026 championships is estimated between 40 and 42.5 million euros. Spain has also announced its full squad of athletes representing the nation across several of the disciplines.
