AADE conducts tax inspections in Greek tourist islands
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has conducted a series of intensive tax inspections across Greek tourist destinations, resulting in numerous fines and business suspensions.
In Paros, a well-known beach club in Punta was found to have failed to issue 174 receipts, with the total value of undisclosed transactions exceeding 10,000 euros. This led to a 48-hour suspension of operations. In Santorini, a hair salon received a 96-hour closure order after failing to issue 164 receipts; the harsher penalty was applied due to the business being a repeat offender. Other violations in Santorini included a preschool and childcare facility that failed to issue 32 receipts.
In Mykonos, a passenger transport business was caught failing to issue 25 receipts. The inspections also extended to the Eastern Aegean, where catering businesses in Chios and Samos were each ordered to suspend operations for 48 hours following receipt violations. Additionally, a branch of a catering and sunbed rental business in Poros faced a 96-hour closure due to previous non-compliance. AADE officials stated that these targeted inspections continue throughout the country, focusing on sectors with high tax interest and utilizing data cross-referencing to identify non-compliant businesses.
