Aadhaar digital updates: Mobile and email changes available via app

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced digital options for Aadhaar holders to update their demographic information via the official Aadhaar App.

Users can update their mobile numbers from home using the app. The process involves logging in with an Aadhaar number, performing face authentication, and verifying the new number via an OTP. An online fee of Rs 75 applies for this digital service, and updates are typically completed within 15 days. Alternatively, residents can visit an Aadhaar enrollment center to update their mobile number for a fee of Rs 50.

Additionally, UIDAI has launched a facility to update email addresses through the Aadhaar App. This service, which began on July 1, 2026, is offered free of charge until December 31, 2026. The email update process requires Aadhaar login, email OTP verification, and mandatory face authentication. Linking an email address is intended to enhance security by providing real-time alerts for authentication requests.
