Celje Pivovarne Laško lost 26:36 to the Danish favorites Aalborg in the second round of the handball Champions League. Despite a competitive start where they remained within a few goals of the visitors, the quality and fast transition of the Danish side became decisive in the second half.
For Celje, Uroš Milićević led the scoring with seven goals, followed by Jesus Hurtado Vergara with six and Aljaž Anžič with three. Aalborg was led by Tobias Storm Nielsen, who scored 13 goals. The Slovenian team faced significant challenges due to the absence of several key players, including Mai Marguč, Gašper Marguč, Žiga Mlakarin, and Filip Rakita, due to injuries.
Following this result, Celje is scheduled to travel to Paris to face PSG in the third round of the Champions League on October 7.
