Aalborg Municipality budgets for new sports hall in Gug

Aalborg Municipality has officially included plans for a new sports hall in Gug in its budget to address growing demand for athletic facilities. The project aims to accommodate an average increase of approximately 2,000 new members in local sports associations annually over the last five years.

Initial funding of 12.5 million DKK has been allocated toward the project through 2030. However, a standard sports hall is estimated to cost approximately 22 million DKK, leaving a funding gap of 9.5 million DKK. Officials intend to secure the remaining funds through future construction budgets, with a target to finalize the financing by 2031.

The proposed facility is intended to be a standard hall located adjacent to the existing hall in Gug. The construction will require minor adjustments to local infrastructure, including the relocation of a nearby bicycle path.
