Aalborg submits bid for European Capital of Culture 2032
Aalborg Municipality has officially submitted its first application to become a European Capital of Culture in 2032. This submission follows over 500 days of preparation and includes a “bidbook” detailing visions for the North Jutland region.
The application process involved contributions from more than 3,000 citizens, along with input from local businesses, associations, and cultural actors. The proposal includes 116 specific project suggestions aimed at using culture to foster community, development, and international cooperation.
The next major step will occur in November, when Aalborg must present its application to an international expert jury appointed by the EU. The jury will determine which Danish cities proceed to the next phase of the selection process.
