Aaliyah Guyton sidelined for Brazil in Pre-Olympic semifinal

Aaliyah Guyton, a key player for the Brazilian women's national basketball team, will miss the Pre-Olympic Qualifier semifinal against Mexico due to injury. The 20-year-old guard suffered a mild sprain to her right knee during a recent match against Argentina.

While medical examinations in Guadalajara ruled out ligament damage, Guyton continues to experience pain and is undergoing treatment. Her absence comes at a critical time, as she was a top scorer for the team during the group stage, including 20 points against South Sudan and 18 points against New Zealand.

Brazil finished at the top of Group A and faces Mexico in the semifinal. The winner of the semifinal will advance to the final to compete for a spot in the 2028 Pre-Olympic tournament.
