Aalsmeer prepares for fireworks spectacle and Pramenrace anniversary

Aalsmeer is preparing for several local cultural events in September. The ‘Vuur en Licht op het Water’ spectacle is scheduled for September 5 at the Westeinderplassen. The event features illuminated boats traveling from the Kleine Poel via the Ringvaart to the Grote Poel, followed by a large fireworks display near the water tower at approximately 11:00 PM.

To ensure the event's continuity after previous organizers decided to step down, a new foundation has been established. Led by chairman Arjan Levarht and treasurer Devin Hoogervorst, the foundation aims to make the event a sustainable community asset that is no longer tied to specific individuals.

Additionally, the town is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the ‘Pramenrace’. An exhibition titled ‘40 jaar Pramenrace’ will open at the Aalsmeer Town Hall on September 4. The collection includes historical posters, videos, iconic photographs, and various memorabilia collected from participants and volunteers over the decades.
