Aalst prepares for Ondinatlon and Jan De Nul Half Marathon
The city of Aalst is preparing for two distinct sporting events. On September 20, 2026, the city will host the inaugural ‘Ondinatlon by Tereos’ during Car-Free Sunday. Inspired by the ‘slow triathlon’ concept from the Netherlands, this event prioritizes health and enjoyment over competition. It removes traditional elements like timers, rankings, and performance pressure. Participants can choose from swimming, cycling, and running, with various distances available. Notably, participants are not required to complete all three disciplines; they may choose to swim, cycle, or walk individually or in combinations. The organizers, 3PT and ALVA, aim to make the event accessible to all fitness levels and ages, allowing for various types of bicycles, including electric bikes.
Additionally, the second edition of the Jan De Nul Half Marathon Aalst is scheduled for November 22. Organized by the local agency Maspoe, the event features a revised course designed to bring runners closer to the city center to enhance atmosphere and supporter engagement. This year, participants will also receive a unique commemorative buff.
