Aam Aadmi Party announces protest and hunger strike in Delhi
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a series of protests in Delhi scheduled for October 15, including a one-day hunger strike. The demonstrations aim to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of 'vote chori' (vote theft).
Party leaders, including Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, met at the party headquarters to coordinate the movement. The agitation is intended to involve AAP MLAs, councillors, and office-bearers from various administrative levels. Leaders emphasized that the movement will remain non-violent, following a Gandhian tradition of peaceful resistance.
Additionally, the party criticized the government's decision to de-notify Jantar Mantar as a protest site, suggesting the move was an attempt to suppress growing agitation. AAP officials have suggested holding demonstrations at Ramlila Maidan if permission for Jantar Mantar is withheld.
