Aam Aadmi Party leaders allege political targeting by central agencies
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing increased political tension in India following a series of confrontations involving law enforcement and central agencies. In Delhi, MLA Kuldeep Kumar alleged that a massive contingent of paramilitary forces and Delhi Police arrived at his residence and office in an attempt to arrest him before a scheduled October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar. The protest is organized to oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, a move that has led to clashes between the Opposition and the Election Commission.
Simultaneously, AAP leadership has criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) following a raid at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s camp office. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal characterized the raid as a politically motivated tactic by the BJP-led central government to influence the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Kejriwal and other party leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, alleged that central investigative agencies are being used to target the AAP due to the party's popularity in Punjab.
