Aamir Khan to return to Japanese cinemas in 2027

Indian actor Aamir Khan is set to return to Japanese theaters in spring 2027 with his film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. The announcement was made by Japanese distributor Geek Pictures on September 25, 2026.

In Japan, the film will be released under the title ‘Sitaare! The Miracle Team of Stardust’. This marks Khan’s first theatrical release in Japan as a lead actor since ‘Dangal’ was released there in 2018. While his production ‘Secret Superstar’ was released in Japan in 2019, he did not hold the lead role.

Directed by RS Prasanna, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a sports-comedy drama and an official Hindi adaptation of the Spanish film ‘Campeones’. The story follows Gulshan Arora, a basketball coach played by Khan, who is tasked with training a team of players with intellectual disabilities, including individuals with Down syndrome and autism.
