AAP projected to win majority in 2027 Punjab elections, survey suggests

An opinion poll conducted by SCORE Intelligence suggests that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, could secure a majority in the 2027 Punjab assembly elections. The survey, conducted between September 13 and October 14, 2026, among 28,347 respondents, estimates that AAP may win between 69 and 82 seats in the 117-member assembly, well above the 59 seats required for a majority.

Other political parties are projected to have lower seat counts: the Congress party is estimated to win between 17 and 34 seats, the BJP between 4 and 12 seats, and both the Shiromani Akali Dal and Waris Punjab De between 2 and 6 seats. Despite the projected seat advantage, the survey indicates AAP's vote share might decrease to 38 percent from its 42.01 percent in 2022.

Regarding leadership, 39.36 percent of respondents expressed a preference for Bhagwant Mann as the next Chief Minister, followed by Charanjit Singh Channi of the Congress at 15.61 percent and Sukhbir Singh Badal of the Shiromani Akali Dal at 10.42 percent. Additionally, 57.70 percent of respondents rated the current government's performance positively.
