AAP protests BJP MPs' attendance at 1984 riots convict's tribute

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized protests across several Punjab cities, including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Bathinda, following the participation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs in a tribute for Sajjan Kumar. Kumar is a convicted individual in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

AAP leaders condemned the actions of BJP MPs Ramvir Bidhuri, Yogender Chandolia, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, stating that honoring a person associated with the 1984 massacre deeply hurts the sentiments of the Sikh community. The party demanded that the BJP take disciplinary action against the representatives.

In Amritsar, protesters attempted to ‘gherao’ the residence of Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh. Local police responded by deploying personnel and erecting barricades to prevent protesters from reaching the premises.
