AAPI Equity Alliance celebrates 50 years of advocacy and voter mobilization

The AAPI Equity Alliance marked its 50th anniversary with a series of events in Los Angeles County, including a policy summit titled “AAPI Power: Democracy in Action.” Speakers such as Texas Rep. Gene Wu and Arshad Hasan of Convey Communications highlighted the need for higher civic participation, noting that less than a third of registered voters turn out in gubernatorial primaries.

The Alliance released voter‑education resources in multiple AAPI languages, opened additional vote centers ahead of the June 2 election, and collaborated with partners like KADC, CAUSE, and LAist to provide guides covering Los Angeles, Long Beach, Pasadena, the LA Unified School District and the wider county. A gala honored the organization’s five‑decade legacy of advocacy, policy work and community organizing.
