Albanian Parliament resumes sessions amid political tensions

The Albanian Parliament has resumed plenary sessions following recent physical clashes and intense debates between majority and opposition deputies. The sessions follow a period of significant tension where opposition members blocked the rostrum and engaged in heated confrontations with parliamentary leadership.

The current legislative agenda is dense, featuring approximately 12 to 18 items. Key topics include draft laws regarding the Bank of Albania, the creation of a Fiscal Council, changes to excise laws, and consumer protection. Discussions also cover business registration, the administration of confiscated properties, and a financial cooperation agreement between Albania and Germany.

Additionally, the agenda includes an interpellation with the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, Blendi Gonxhja. The political climate remains charged following disciplinary measures taken against several Democratic Party deputies, including Flamur Noka and Belind Këlliçi, who faced 60-day exclusions from parliamentary work.
