Aargau and Vorarlberg lift forest fire restrictions
Authorities in Aargau, Switzerland, have announced the lifting of the general outdoor fire ban as of August 27, 2026, due to slightly improved weather conditions. However, the ban remains strictly in place for forests and areas within 50 meters of a forest edge due to ongoing drought and high fire risk in wooded areas. While charcoal grilling in paved areas is permitted if sufficiently far from forests, gas and electric grills are only allowed in forests if used with extreme caution.
In Vorarlberg, Austria, nationwide forest fire regulations that were implemented on July 30 are scheduled to be lifted on Friday, August 28. The decision follows recent rainfall and lower temperatures that have reduced the regional fire risk. The regulations, which prohibited smoking and open fires in all forest areas, will cease to be effective as of Saturday, August 29.
