Aarhus fire station project enters next phase amid infrastructure works
Østjyllands Brandvæsen is advancing plans for Station Øst, a new full-time fire station located at the Aarhus Sydhavn on Sumatravej. The project aims to begin construction by mid-2028.
The development requires intensive coordination with the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) due to major infrastructure changes in the area, including work on the Marselistunnelen, the reconstruction of Sydhavnsgade, and construction on Sumatravej.
Geotechnical investigations have been completed on the site, which is situated on contaminated ground. These results will inform the upcoming tender for consultancy services, which is expected to be issued in mid-October 2026. The goal is to finalize an agreement by the first quarter of 2027 to begin the formal design phase.
