German tourist found dead on Lycian Way in Turkey
The body of 33-year-old German tourist Friederike Elisabeth Newrzella has been found in Antalya, Turkey. She had been missing since October 14 after disappearing while hiking on the Lycian Way between Kaş and Demre.
Search operations involving the gendarmerie, AFAD, and AKUT teams located her body in a rocky area near the Üçağız neighborhood, approximately 700 to 800 meters from the sea. Authorities noted that the location was outside the official hiking route.
Demre District Governor Emin Bağlı stated that the identity was confirmed via an ID found on the deceased, and her family has been notified. Investigators are looking into whether Newrzella may have followed unofficial directional signs used by local businesses or if she fell due to adverse weather conditions. A judicial investigation into the cause of death is ongoing following autopsy procedures.
