Aaron Ashby nears postseason scoreless relief record

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby extended his postseason shutout streak to 15 2/3 innings following a five-out save in a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The win gives the Brewers a 2-0 lead in the World Series.

Ashby is approaching the postseason record for consecutive scoreless relief innings, which is currently held by Cleveland’s Andrew Miller, who recorded 16 innings in 2016. Including the regular season, Ashby has pitched 20 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings, a career high.

The Brewers' bullpen has been a central component of their postseason success, allowing only seven earned runs over 50 2/3 innings. This defensive strength has aided Milwaukee in seven of their nine playoff victories this year.
