Aaron Carter estate settles wrongful death lawsuit with Walgreens

The estate of late singer Aaron Carter has reached a settlement in a wrongful death civil lawsuit involving Walgreens and Santa Monica Medical Plaza Pharmacy. The litigation, filed on behalf of Carter’s minor son, alleged that the pharmacies negligently prescribed and supplied excessive amounts of Xanax prior to the singer's accidental drowning in November 2022.

The terms of the agreement with the pharmacies remain confidential. This settlement follows a previous confidential agreement between the estate and Dr. John Faber of Amen Clinics. However, legal claims against dentist Jason Mirabile remain outstanding.

Separately, court documents reveal significant financial distress within the estate. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued a demand for over $461,000 in unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties spanning several years, including a large claim for the 2021 tax year. The estate was previously declared insolvent by a judge, leaving the ability to satisfy these tax debts uncertain.
