Aaron Cole releases gospel single after viral Usher sample

Rapper, singer, and songwriter Aaron Cole has released his latest single, “Usher in the Spirit Again,” featuring Jonathan McReynolds. The track originated from a viral social media post in which Cole recorded himself singing gospel praise over an Usher instrumental.

The video gained significant traction online, receiving attention from artists such as Chance the Rapper and Kehlani, as well as gospel performers Kierra Sheard and Jonathan McReynolds. Following the viral response, Usher personally approved the use of the sample, allowing the song to be officially recorded and released.

Cole, who was raised in the Church of God in Christ in Bristol, Virginia, debuted the song on “Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell,” discussing how the project transitioned from a bedroom recording to a major gospel release.
