Aaron Judge excluded from Yankees Wild Card roster
The New York Yankees have officially excluded star slugger Aaron Judge from their roster for the upcoming MLB Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox. Judge is currently recovering from a soleus strain in his right calf, an injury sustained during a game against the Minnesota Twins on September 17.
Reports indicate a disconnect between Judge and manager Aaron Boone regarding the player's availability. While Judge expressed a strong desire to play, Boone opted to prioritize the player's long-term health, allowing him more time to rehabilitate. The decision is not necessarily permanent; the Yankees will set a new roster for the American League Division Series (ALDS) should they advance past the Wild Card round.
To compensate for Judge's absence, the Yankees have included Giancarlo Stanton on the postseason roster. The team's Wild Card lineup consists of 16 position players and 10 pitchers for the best-of-three series.
