Aaron Wise disqualified from Wyndham Championship

The Wyndham Championship, the final regular-season event of the PGA Tour, is taking place at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The tournament serves as the last opportunity for players to secure a position within the top 70 to qualify for the FedExCup playoffs.

During the event, American professional Aaron Wise was disqualified following a weather suspension. Officials halted play due to inclement weather, and when play resumed, Wise was not present at the course. This led to a violation of Rule 5.7(c) 2, which requires a player to be ready to resume play at the time communicated by the committee.

While no official statement has confirmed his intent, observers noted that Wise was three-over through 14 holes at the time of the suspension. Given the tournament cut was set at three-under, he would have needed a highly improbable performance to qualify.
