Aaryavir Sehwag replicates father's iconic shot in Delhi Premier League

Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former Indian cricket opener Virender Sehwag, drew significant attention during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 by replicating his father’s iconic back-foot punch. The 18 or 19-year-old performed the shot while playing for the West Delhi Lions against the New Delhi Tigers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 19, 2026.

During the match, Aaryavir opened the innings and scored 22 runs off 14 balls, including four boundaries. His performance contributed to a 41-run opening partnership with Krish Yadav. The West Delhi Lions successfully chased a target of 196, securing a six-wicket victory with four balls remaining. Other key contributors for the Lions included Nitish Rana, who scored 50 off 23 balls, and captain Ayush Doseja, who remained unbeaten on 64.
