Añatuya resident targeted in Naranja X technical support scam

A 46-year-old woman in Añatuya, Argentina, reported being the victim of a telephone scam involving a fraudulent impersonation of Naranja X technical support.

The incident began after the woman accidentally transferred 165,000 pesos to an incorrect account belonging to an individual named Miranda Maldonado. Shortly after, she received a call from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as a Naranja X support agent, claiming he could help recover the misdirected funds.

Following the caller's instructions, the woman added an associated account and entered a validation code within her application. Upon checking her balance, she discovered that 179,000 pesos had been withdrawn from her available funds. The scammer then attempted to solicit access to another of her bank accounts to continue the purported recovery process, at which point the woman realized the fraud and ended the call.

The victim filed a formal complaint at Community Police Station No. 41, providing screenshots and transaction receipts. Local police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators.
