AB de Villiers urges stability for Dewald Brevis
Former South African cricket captain AB de Villiers has expressed concern regarding the development of Dewald Brevis, urging team management to provide the young batter with more stability in his batting order.
De Villiers, who has personally worked with Brevis during his off time, criticized the frequent shuffling of Brevis between opening, middle order, and lower order positions across different formats. He argued that these changes disrupt the player's rhythm and confidence. To allow the 22-year-old to flourish, de Villiers recommended specific roles: batting at number 3 in T20s and ODIs, and number 4 in Test matches.
Addressing public perception that Brevis may be past his peak, de Villiers emphasized that the player is still in his early 20s and has significant room for growth. He noted that he himself did not reach his peak until his late 20s or early 30s. Brevis, who plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, has recently shown strong form in T20I matches against Namibia and Zimbabwe.
