AB InBev historic Belgian families sell €731 million stake after 37% share surge
Historic Belgian shareholders of Anheuser‑Busch InBev, represented by the Luxembourg‑based vehicle Eugenie Patri Sebastien, sold about 10 million AB InBev shares for €731 million (≈$843 million) in a block trade on Aug 3. The shares were priced at €73.10 each, a 2.8% discount to the July 31 close, and the transaction pushed the brewer’s stock down as much as 2.5% in early trading.
The sale follows a 37% rise in AB InBev’s share price since the start of 2026, which placed the company among the top five performers in the Euro Stoxx 50. AB InBev continues to invest in its “megabrands” – Corona, Stella Artois and Michelob Ultra – to drive growth despite a slowdown in beer consumption in key markets such as Europe and China. Recent World Cup sponsorship boosted demand for Michelob Ultra in the United States and other beers in Mexico, but it was insufficient to offset weak volumes elsewhere.
