Ab Rauf Yusoh testifies in defamation suit against Mohamad Ali

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh appeared as the first witness in a defamation lawsuit against former Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Negara, Datuk Mohamad Ali Mohamad, at the Ayer Keroh High Court.

Ab Rauf has completed his examination-in-chief, but cross-examination by the defense remains unfinished. The proceedings were adjourned to allow the Chief Minister to preside over a weekly Exco meeting. The court is expected to set a new date for the continuation of the testimony.

The lawsuit stems from alleged defamatory statements published on the defendant's TikTok account. Previously, the Melaka High Court granted an inter-parte injunction ordering the removal of the social media posts in question. The plaintiff expects to call three witnesses, while the defense is understood to be preparing four witnesses.
