ABA Jiu reported to prosecutors over 10 million lei in mismanagement

Interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu has reported irregularities at the Jiu Water Basin Administration (ABA Jiu) to the General Prosecutor's Office. An audit by the Ministry's Control Body revealed that the administration constructed a flood defense dike for the city of Craiova eight years ago without first requesting the necessary removal of the land from the forest fund.

As a result of this failure to follow legal procedures, Romsilva has applied fines totaling ten million lei. Buzoianu stated that the administration's mismanagement has resulted in significant financial losses, noting that these funds, which are now being used to pay penalties, should have been allocated to other essential investments such as consolidation works, dredging, or maintenance.
