Abadina honors basketball legends for TBS Distrito 2026

The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) has launched a new initiative to honor the legacy of former players during the 50th anniversary of the TBS Distrito 2026 tournament. In a ceremony held at the Arena BanReservas Profesor Virgilio Travieso Soto, the organization presented lifetime accreditation and permanent passes to ‘Inmortales del Deporte’ (Sports Immortals), ‘Viejas Glorias’ (Old Glories), and ‘Propulsores’ (Promoters).

Teresa Durán and Vinicio Muñoz were the first recipients of these lifetime passes, recognizing their lifelong contributions to Dominican basketball. Other distinguished players honored include Alberto Ozuna, Carlos Martínez, Cuqui Langa, Johnny Duluc, Niurka Herrera, and Mercedes Rondón, with Arturo Torres recognized as a promoter.

Abadina President Edwin Castillo (Tatico) noted that this is a historic first for the institution. The event was attended by TBS Distrito 2026 Commissioner Nelson Ramírez and Sports Vice Minister Fernando Teruel.
