Abadín local government accused of retaliating against biogas plant protesters

The Socialist Party of Galicia (PSdeG) has denounced alleged retaliation by the local government in Abadín against businesses displaying ‘Biometano Non’ (No Biomethane) banners. The party claims that verbal instructions were given to municipal workers to avoid making purchases from establishments that express opposition to planned biogas plants.

Spokesperson Pablo Díaz described the situation as “absolutely inadmissible,” arguing that public resources should not be used to reward or punish citizens based on their political opinions. The PSdeG intends to bring the matter to the next Municipal Plenary to demand explanations from Mayor José María López Rancaño regarding whether such instructions were issued and to whom they were directed.

Additionally, the Sindicato Labrego Galego has accused the mayor of providing false or incomplete information regarding the biogas plant projects scheduled for the municipality.
